My God Will Hear Me
My God Will Hear Me
Micah 7:7 But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.
About the Song
I started writing this song after a Bible study with some ladies in Delhi. I chose this song for the album because of the clear message that God hears these girls, He sees them, and He is their hope and salvation. The thousands of gods that they are taught to worship and serve as a part of Hinduism never hear them or care at all. But the one true God loves them and hears them. My desire for them was to learn these lyrics and internalize this message that the One True God loves them so much and is the only way to salvation.
The chorus is especially touching to me, as I hear them praying this in their hearts to God: "Hear our cries, give us faith, as we lift our voices to you. Open our eyes, open our ears, as we wait to hear from you." When the soloist near the end, Shira, sings this in the first person, it is even more meaningful (especially for me because I can picture her face and I know her sweet, quiet spirit).
I am confident that the Lord will answer their prayers and reveal Himself to them. For so many, He already has. Many of these girls have come to a saving knowledge of Christ and have given their lives to Him, even with no support from their families. They are lights to their communities, and some have even been called upon to pray for sick neighbors in their slums when the prayers to the idols are not working.
About a Girl
The lead soloist on this song, Tamara, has a quiet, pleasant demeanor. She is a leader and a hard worker. She was a top tailor in the sewing courses she was offered while living in the hostel through grade 10. This hostel is not allowed to keep girls past grade 10, but Tamara was able to get admission into an English medium school for grades 11 and 12. She now lives in another hostel for older girls not too far away. In India, only the top students (likely college-bound) choose to complete the last two years of high school, which are very demanding academically. Some students graduate after completing grade 10 and end their formal education.
Tamara was recently given a new sewing machine by Disha Foundation and earns pocket money through tailoring and sewing. Disha Foundation is also sponsoring her to complete additional tailoring courses. She is studying hard in grade 12 and will graduate in April 2018. She desires to study further in fashion design, and Disha Foundation hopes to help her start her own business. Tamara is a very talented young lady with a promising future. Pray for her to continue to watch, wait, and hope in the Lord who guides her in her life.
The My God Will Hear Me album is available at many online stores and streaming services. All profits for purchased music goes to Disha Foundation to support the girls.
