John 17:20-26 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one--I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
I wrote this song during my college years as a simple prayer to the Lord. It is a song of salvation, but also a reminder to us who are saved to remember to lean on Christ daily and walk in His Spirit.
It has always been my desire to see all the girls come to know the Lord in a personal way and to decide to follow Jesus. I included this song so that they could remember these simple lyrics with the hope that they would come to mind when they need it. I am confident that He is at work in changing their lives and has revealed himself to them. Please continue to lift them up and ask that they would have the courage and strength to believe, even when they have a lot of pressure to continue in the religious traditions of their country.
About the Girls
Most of the girls in this hostel are from Hindu and Muslim families. Their families or guardians have agreed to allow them to learn about the Bible and the Christian faith while living in this hostel. They are generally unwanted, or their families or guardians do not have the means to care for them. At least they care enough to pay a very small amount to put them in this hostel, because without it, most of these girls would be left alone in their slums or on the streets.
While in the hostel, these girls are fed, clothed, housed, taught, and loved. There are 85 of them and a small staff to do the daily work. Please pray for the staff who pour out their hearts and work very hard to keep the place running, as well as tend to the needs of so many.
The girls are very respectful and love visitors. They enjoy listening to guests teach them or share in celebrations with them. They love to sing and dance to music that glorifies our Lord. They have deep wounds and have experienced much trauma, but they have seen and tasted the love and grace of our God which covers it all.
