Aata Hoon (I Come)
Psalm 139:1-18 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you percieve my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,"
even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand--when I awake, I am still with you.
About the Song
I started this song during my first year living in India, and knew I had to finish it to include on this album. The lyrics to the song are exactly what I wanted the girls to realize. I wanted them to know that the true God sees them, knows them, and loves them. This is in contrast to the thousands of Hindu gods that the culture teaches them to appease and call to for help, who do not listen or care for them at all. They are nothing compared to our Great God of love.
Many of these girls to not know human love or care, because they have been unwanted or neglected since birth. Inside the hostel, they are shown love and cared for, while being taught that God values them and loves them unconditionally.
My prayer is that they will all be drawn to the love of God and seek Him for healing and wholeness. I am confident that the Lord will show Himself to anyone who asks, and I know that He will bring comfort through his unending compassion for these broken girls.
About a Girl
Here is another incredible story from a young girl who listened to the radio programs and found Jesus. God saw her and made a way for her even when things seemed hopeless. This excerpt is taken from the book Unshackled, which is available for purchase on Amazon.com:
I woke up to the smell of incense burning. It was rose incense today. My father was a temple Priest and it was his practice to perform rituals every morning in our home before he left for his temple duties. I was the youngest in the family. All other siblings were married and had moved out.
A cool breeze blew in through my room's window beckoning the onset of monsoons. I gazed out and saw the leaves from the top of the banyan tree in our courtyard dancing as if inviting me to come out and play with my friends. I jumped out of my bed. Click to continue reading . . .
