Aata Hoon (I Come)

Image
Psalm 139:1-18 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.  You know when I sit and when I rise; you percieve my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.  If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's w...

Jesus Messiah is Coming

Image
Luke 19:38-42 "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!"       "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"      Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!"       "I tell you," he replied, "If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace--but now it is hidden from your eyes . . . " About the Song I wrote this song while studying through the book of Luke. I wanted to include it on this album to continue to stress who Jesus is, and how he came to redeem us. It was very important to me to choose songs that taught these girls important, simple truths. The song is almost word for word from this passage in the book of Luke so it speaks for itself. I pray that all who hear this are stirred to consider if they truly believe Jesu...

Come Jesus Come

John 17:20-26 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one--I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them." I wrote this song during my college years ...

God is Good to Me

Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever; and his faithfulness to all generations.  About the Song I started writing this song in 2008 when my 3-week old daughter was intubated in the ICU, very sick with RSV and pneumonia. I was completely helpless and had to rely on God and the doctors to know how to care for her. She was so tiny, new, fragile, and sick. At the worst of her illness, I feared for her life. The dramatic way the hospital staff responded when I brought her to the emergency room confirmed my worst fears. It was quite traumatic, watching them snatch my limp baby, rush her to a bed and start cutting the clothes off of her little body in order to quickly diagnose the problem. Several doctors and nurses were running from all directions to my baby and began frantically working together to help her. A kind doctor turned to me and calmly said, "Please just give us a few minutes to figure out what's going on and then we will talk to y...

Prabhu Mahan (How Great Thou Art)

Image
Psalm 145:3 Great is the Lord and worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. About the Song How Great Thou Art was my granny's favorite hymn. I remember recording a video in Zimbabwe on my first overseas mission trip in college, listening to the worshippers sing this familiar hymn in their local language. I played that video for her and it warmed her heart so much. I have found such connection with people of other cultures when we know the same song, but in a different language. It was my desire to include this song on the album, sung in Hindi. This album includes songs in both Hindi and English, so that people of both languages can understand and be encouraged by the message in the songs. The message of the hymn is simple but so important, that our God is Great. Again, I wanted to emphasize with these girls that the One True God is Great, above all other gods. He greatly surpasses everything we can ever imagine or create with our own hands, like the Hindu idols...

My God Will Hear Me

Image
My God Will Hear Me Micah 7:7 But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. About the Song I started writing this song after a Bible study with some ladies in Delhi. I chose this song for the album because of the clear message that God hears these girls, He sees them, and He is their hope and salvation. The thousands of gods that they are taught to worship and serve as a part of Hinduism never hear them or care at all. But the one true God loves them and hears them. My desire for them was to learn these lyrics and internalize this message that the One True God loves them so much and is the only way to salvation. The chorus is especially touching to me, as I hear them praying this in their hearts to God: "Hear our cries, give us faith, as we lift our voices to you. Open our eyes, open our ears, as we wait to hear from you." When the soloist near the end, Shira, sings this in the first person, it is even more meaningfu...

The Beginning

Image
During the fall of 2012, the Lord was working on my heart and bringing things together in my mind in preparation for this project. I shared the vision with Vinita Shaw of Disha Foundation , and she gave me her blessing to move forward. I committed the month of January 2013 to the Lord for prayer and planning for this project as well as for my general music ministry. I know the Lord has used music in my life and to bless others in the past, so it makes sense that there would be spiritual warfare in the form of distractions or disruptions in my life. However, I was not expecting what happened on January 1, 2013. I had a sudden, unexplained back injury that landed me in bed for the month. Doctors were unable to diagnose the exact problem. After that month, I could only handle being out of bed for about an hour at a time. I very slowly worked back up to a normal routine as my back healed. During that time, I realized that all the Lord had called me to do that month (in addition to nor...

The Vision

Image
My husband and I, along with our four children, moved to New Delhi, India, in March of 2010 and lived there for four years. Our desire was to be a part of God's work among the nations. We learned Hindi, enjoyed the best food on Earth, and developed lasting relationships with our Indian friends. One way I was involved in the community was spending time at a Christian home for girls ages 5-16. While working with these sweet girls, I began to sense the Lord leading me to do a recording project with them. Here is a promotional video created for the project created in 2013 that explains the project very well: God did an amazing thing during the making of this album. I stepped out in obedience and offered my gifts to the Lord to use as He pleased. He brought people along that I never could have found on my own to fill in parts of the project that I never knew had to be filled. The final recording was beyond my expectations, and I am confident these songs have touched many people...
