Teri Sundarta (Your Beauty)

Teri Sundarta (Your Beauty)

Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the Lord,
     this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.

About the Song

I wrote this simple praise song about the beauty of God sometime before moving to India. It has always been a favorite of mine, and one that many others have enjoyed listening to and singing. It has a simple melody, a timeless message, and lyrics not too difficult to translate. I am thankful for dear Indian friends who worked hard making the best translation to preserve the meaning as well as the melody. This can be very difficult!

It was important to include some Hindi language songs so that the girls could sing in their heart language. They do know some English, but it is generally basic or very beginner level for the younger ones, especially. I loved hearing them sing these lyrics, knowing that they all could understand what they were singing about. My desire is that they continue to worship the true God and grow in knowledge and wisdom. How wonderful it will be to worship in eternity with these girls who follow the Lord!

About the Girls

When I first came to the hostel, the sea of brown eyes captured my heart within seconds. Each girl looked at me shyly, most of them smiling, some even brave enough to speak the few English words they knew, "Hello ma'am, how are you?"

They craved attention and love. They wanted to be seen, loved, and known. They were quick to listen and obey, and always very helpful. When I brought my own children to the hostel to visit, they embraced them, enjoyed playing with them, and cared for them.

There was so much laughter and fun in the place it was hard to hear the stories of where these girls came from. It was a quick realization that they saw the hostel as a safe place of refuge. What a blessing this hostel has been to thousands of girls throughout the years, who were at-risk for trafficking or even more abuse than they had already suffered.

Pray for these girls to continue to thrive while inside the hostel, and that the graduates would cling to the truths they have learned and know that God will be with them always.

The My God Will Hear Me album is available at many online stores and streaming services. All profits for purchased music goes to Disha Foundation to support the girls.
